Can't help you. My family won't let me smoke turkeys any more since I started cajun style frying turkeys several years ago. I brine, inject with cajun seasoning, and fry and the turkeys come out unbelievable. I suggest you smoke a ham and fry a turkey! I have yet to serve a fried turkey that people weren't delighted with the results. I've even got neighbors bringing the turkeys to me.
