DD,The egg works fine in winter. I use mine all winter here in Colorado. It works just fine below zero. Once in a while it will freeze shut when it has been used and the gasket gets wet. To unfreeze, put a lit starter cube into the top and wait for it to come up in temperature so it thaws.The last rule, don't put you tongue on it. You know the rest.
