First, thank you all for all you help. I purchased my egg at the begining of the summer and I visited this forum countless times for advice, tips, ideas and recipes. I have provided my friends and family with a number of wonderful meals all with the help of all of you.On to my question: Those of you up north, what do you do with your egg in the winter? Is there a problem using the egg when it is extemely cold? Should I take any precautions with using it when it is below freezeing? Thanks again for the help!

DD,The egg works fine in winter. I use mine all winter here in Colorado. It works just fine below zero. Once in a while it will freeze shut when it has been used and the gasket gets wet. To unfreeze, put a lit starter cube into the top and wait for it to come up in temperature so it thaws. The last rule, don't put you tongue on it. You know the rest.

YES, MY FEET GET COLD AND SOMETIMES WET AS WELL, ALSO IT SEEMS MUCH DARKER OUTSIDE DURING THE COLD WEATHER Should I take any precautions with using it when it is below freezeing? DD, We cook all year long. Yup, winter too. and It get's a little colder than some have indicated here. No worries. It is especially nice to cook on Christmas, New Years, Valentines day, and all the days between. Freezing is 32F. it's way colder than that here. even below zero is OK.

EggRacer, Yes that was me and a few others, I plan this year to get a picture of my Eggs temperature and beside it a temperature snap shot of the outside temperature in the middle of Jan 2008 here in Ottawa Canada. Never had a problem with any outside temperature.
