bbqjunkie tjv, that's exactly what I need. Please tell me where can I buy one. That rig would solve the
problem of having the plate setter too close to the coles or the problem of a brisquet drying out
because of the plate setter being too close to the cooking grate. It would also solve the problem of
having to removed the fire ring every time you change from indirect to direct cooking without
causing damaged to the HOT fire ring. My plate setter already crack once while in used and I think
the reason was it being to close to the coles. Please make this happen for the XL egg crowd. Thank
you.

bbqjunkie, here are a couple pics of the xlwoo set up. The ring raises the grid approx. 2.75
inches. That is as high as you can go and still use the xl grid.

The pan holder drops down just over 2 inches. The xl pizza stone is too big to fit on the pan
holder, i.e. that's why I call it a pan holder, LOL! I can order round pizza pans up to 20
inches in diameter. I think 18 would be preferred.

The only real update on the set-up is now I add feet to the lower ring. The feet hold the xlwoo on
top of the fire ring for better stability.

I've looked at several options to add an upper grid to this set up. Haven't really found one
that works given the dome's shape and/or doesn't get in the way of the lower grid action.
It's easy to add a smaller grid for raised grid cooking (one grid) but to me that seems somewhat
defeating: why buy an xl only to use a smaller grid.

If there is enough interest, I can approach a couple fabricators for a quantity run, similar to the
stainless grid thing. I'd rather do a small production run than make them. It's easier for
me (they are time consuming to make) and the end product would be more consistent.

I don't own an xl, so not sure how productive this set-up is.

tjv Broc, just across the Mighty Mo from Omaha, I made the spider for my medium. Only problem, can't
find any accessories to use with it, as the inside diameter of the fire ring is approx. 12 inches.
Any ideas. T

tjv Flashback Bob, I make the spider for the large, as it has accessories that can be used on the
spider. Have you tried the medium bge cast iron grid for searing. T

bbqjunkie Flashback Bob, thanks for the info. I have to post a message to TJV and make a miracle happen.

Flashback Bob bbqjunkie,
The maker of the spider rigs is TJV (aka Sandbagger)Don't know what size Eggs he makes them for.
