Rick's Tropical Delight,
Rick I missed alot of what you were telling Ann. Why ice the breast of the turkey? Do you put the
bag of ice in the grill or just cool down the breast? Also what with checking the dome temp gauge?
As you can see i'm a newbie and want to learn all i can using the BGE
Thanks Jack

Ann,
i use a couple of large stainless steel nuts as spacers for my dome thermometer. others use a short
piece of pipe. you only want to raise it about half the length of the stem at the most. you could
just use some aluminum foil balled up around the stem if you had to. aluminium foil balls will work
for the spacer between the plate setter and the pan as well; some people use three elbows of copper
pipe as spaces.
Ann
Rick's Tropical Delight, Thank you for telling me to check the thermometer stem! It is best to
check up front for sure! I have a large EGG but if I need a spacer, where would I purchase one?
Thank you Rick! I really appreciate your help and ideas! Ann

Ann,
hey, if you have a large, you'll have more headroom and you might be able to place the bird on
the grid on the plate setter. test your setup with the bird in the wrapper to make sure it all fits.
watch your dome thermometer stem, as you may have to raise it some with a spacer to prevent it from
sticking in the turkey. just take it out, then close the dome and insert the thermometer back in the
hole to see if it hits the turkey.
you are gonna love it!
Ann
AlaskanC, your instructions were perfect! Can see it clearly and can hardly wait to fire up the
EGG! Getting ready to order me a plate setter now! Can hardly wait to taste the gravy! Buying my
EGG and signing up on the egg forum was a grand thing to do!
